Does Garmin Pay work in Singapore?
Yes, with cards issued by participating Singapore banks. Add a card in the Garmin Connect app and tap the watch at contactless terminals. Check your bank on Garmin Singapore's Garmin Pay page before you buy if payments are the deciding feature.
Can I swap the strap, and will it fit a smaller wrist?
Yes. The tactix 8 uses Garmin's 26 mm QuickFit system, so any QuickFit 26 band in silicone, UltraFit, leather or metal clips on and off by hand. The included silicone band fits wrists from 127 to 210 mm; the case itself is 51 mm across, so try one on if you are between sizes.

My introduction to smart watches was the Samsung Galaxy Ultra watch in white. It was great for what is was. Linked with my Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra, it did everything I could ask for. Prior to that, I was wearing my Casio G-Shock GWG-2000. The Garmin Tactix 8 51mm AMOLED is just such a phenomenal watch in every way. I mean it looks gorgeous to just wear on the wrist. You can wear it for any occasion. It's bigger than my Samsung watch but feels a lot lighter. The screen is beautiful. Some might say it's overkill, but I say the more features, the better. I don't like when companies or even people try to tell me what I do and don't need. Give me everything and allow me to decide for myself. The battery life is on a whole other level in comparison to the Samsung. I was getting 1-3 days on the Samsung depending if I used energy saving mode (3D) or not. My first charge of 100% and the Garmin said 28 days. Of course, I just start wearing it last night, but that is just amazing!!! I got this thing for about $400 off of the retail price because it was supposed to be used and in good condition. The thing came in looking like it wasn't touched. The only thing that was a little raggedy was the box. I would highly recommend this watch to anyone that can afford it.
Expencive, but works great!
This watch didn't make me smarter but the range of features is pretty amazing. I started 2025 with the 51mm which hung off my wrist. The 47mm fits like it belongs and does everything it's supposed to. I use a lot of the features every day, especially the green flash light which doesn't spin my dogs up when I'm moving around at 2AM. The ballistics program is not very good and is more of a marketing tool for AB to sell you an upgrade for few hundred; get a real ballistics tool if you need that. Very disappointing is the Garmin stock monitoring app which can't find basic index stocks for the S&P among others. The stupid part is that if you want to monitor a penny stock in Angola, it will probably do that but US stocks are lacking. Customer service was zero help. But you're probably not buying this to monitor your portfolio. Satellite tracking is on par with with a larger GPS; music storage and app function like they should. Garmin's gym profiles are a bit odd but I don't use them. What I do use all the time is the notifications. You must be in range of your phone but I can be doing any manner of activities and the watch will tell me about text messages and phone calls. Really helpful in high noise environments or where you have the ringer off. HR and pulse OX are on point and within one or two points of precision medical equipment. I can take or leave Garmin's "morning report" etc but I reject their very invasive privacy BS with Garmin Connect. With Garmin, YOU are definitely the product. You may feel otherwise. All in all, a pretty good tech toy. I wish their apps were more polished as well as functional but some (like the stocks) have been the subject of YEARS of complaints without result. There's also a fleet of better watch faces on Garmin IQ that provide extended functionality (SHN-TxD). As for the real tactical stuff...you're not really using a watch to plan your HALO insertion, are you? This is strictly REMF equipment if you're working. If you're LE or a first responder, this is a great tool.
