Garmin's flagship tactical watch for uniformed work, deep water and long trails. One 51 mm case, four editions.

A POSITION FIX UNDER CANOPY - Multi-band GPS with SatIQ technology picks the satellite mode that holds accuracy on a jungle trail or between HDB blocks, then eases off to save power when the sky opens up. A 3-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter sit behind it, so heading and elevation keep working while you wait for the fix.
BUILT TO ENDURE - Garmin tests the tactix 8 to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance. The fibre-reinforced polymer case carries a titanium rear cover, and the 10 ATM rating covers a monsoon shift, a river crossing and a pool session in the same week.
RECOVERY YOU CAN SEE - Body Battery energy monitoring, HRV status, sleep coach and the morning report tell you what a night shift or a 30 km route march actually cost you. Training readiness turns that into a single score before you decide how hard to go.
SERIOUS TRAINING TOOLS - VO2 max, endurance score, hill score, PacePro pacing strategies and Garmin Coach plans for running, cycling, strength and triathlon. Multisport auto transition records your swim, bike and run splits while you race.
ONE CHARGER, ONE CABLE - The included charging and data cable uses Garmin's plug connector, and Power Manager on the watch shows exactly which settings and sensors are drawing power so you can stretch a charge across a field exercise.
The buttons work through wet gloves, under water and in a downpour, where a touchscreen alone struggles. The touchscreen is still there for map panning when your hands are dry.
Take a call from the wrist when your phone is in the pack, and control watch functions with voice commands that work off-grid. Most rugged GPS watches leave both features out.
The Slate Gray and Olive Drab editions add a Cerakote coating over the bezel, a finish Garmin specifies for enhanced durability in the field. Same AMOLED display and sensors underneath.
Full colour topographic maps for multiple continents are already on the watch, with more downloadable over Wi-Fi. NextFork map guide shows the distance to the next junction and the trail name at a glance.

NIGHT VISION MODE - Set the watch for use under NODs and the display dims to a level that stays readable through NODs, with controls to dim further or black out the screen completely to reduce detectability.
STEALTH MODE - The watch keeps running as a watch and a navigator, but stops storing and sharing your GPS position and disables wireless connectivity and communication. One setting, before you step off.
KILL SWITCH - A dedicated switch sits in the tactical feature set, one deliberate action for when a device has to be left behind.
DUAL GRID COORDINATES - Show your position in two coordinate formats on one screen for cross-checking against a paper map or a radio call. The Jumpmaster activity and projected waypoints handle the planning side.
LONG-RANGE SOLVER AND STAGE TIMER - The preloaded Applied Ballistics Ultralight solver gives aiming solutions for long-range shooting, with profiles and targets managed in the AB Quantum app. A stage timer tracks the time left in your course of fire.
RUCKING ACTIVITY - Enter your pack weight and the profile scores the load correctly, so a route march counts for what it actually was.
Uniformed and Tactical
For SAF, SPF, SCDF, security and range work. Log a ruck with the pack weight on record, run a stage timer on the range, and rely on a watch tested to U.S. military standards through a wet field exercise.
Hiker and Overseas Trekker
TopoActive maps on the wrist for a phone-free Bukit Timah loop or a week in Nepal. Barometric trend with storm alert, ClimbPro for the ascents ahead, and Expedition GPS mode for multi-day trips far from a charger.
Diver and Open-Water Swimmer
Underwater wrist-based heart rate, open-water swim metrics with SWOLF, and a dive log that syncs to the Garmin Dive app after a Tioman weekend. Alerts arrive by vibration so you feel them through a wetsuit.
Runner and Multisport
Wrist-based running dynamics, race predictor and daily suggested workouts that adapt after every run. Grade-adjusted pace scores a MacRitchie hill session at its true effort, and the triathlon profile records the transitions.

1.4-INCH AMOLED, 454 x 454 PIXELS - The AMOLED, Slate Gray Cerakote and Olive Drab Cerakote editions share the same bright colour display. Contour lines, trail names and solver outputs are legible at arm's length, and the touchscreen makes panning a map quick.
RED SHIFT MODE - Shifts the whole display to red tones for pre-dawn starts and dark rooms, easier on adapted eyes and on the people sleeping next to you.
SLIMMER ON THE WRIST - The AMOLED editions measure 51 x 51 x 14.7 mm. The AMOLED weighs 92 g with its silicone band, the Cerakote editions 94 g.

SUNLIGHT-VISIBLE MIP DISPLAY - The Solar edition uses a transflective memory-in-pixel display at 280 x 280 pixels. It gets clearer the brighter the Singapore sun, with a backlight for the dark, and the always-on face costs very little power.
POWER SAPPHIRE LENS - The lens itself harvests light. Garmin rates smartwatch mode at up to 30 days, or 48 days with 3 hours a day outside in 50,000 lux conditions, and Expedition GPS at up to 50 days, or 118 days with solar. The full mode-by-mode table is below.
BUILT FOR THE LONG HAUL - At 51 x 51 x 15.4 mm and 95 g with the silicone band, the Solar edition is the pick for overseas deployments and multi-week treks where the charger stays home.

MULTICOLOUR LED FLASHLIGHT - A built-in LED provides a bright, steady beam in either green or white light, quick to reach for a tent zip, a map check or a dark stairwell, with your hands still free for the job.
GREEN FOR LOW-SIGNATURE WORK - Green light preserves your dark adaptation better than white. With the NVG setting on, the white beam is disabled and the green beam becomes dimmable, so a quick check of your kit stays discreet.

A RECREATIONAL DIVE COMPUTER ON YOUR WRIST - A depth sensor rated to 40 m supports scuba diving on a single gas and apnea diving. The decompression model is Bühlmann ZHL-16c with gradient factors, with Nitrox support for 21 to 40 percent oxygen and PO2 up to 1.6.
THE DETAILS DIVERS CHECK - Auto start and end of dive, customisable safety stop, deep stops, ascent and descent rate indicator, a 3-axis dive compass and a surface status widget showing surface interval, no-fly time and tissue loading. Entry and exit locations save automatically.
DRY-LAND SWIMMING TOO - Pool swims log lengths, stroke type and SWOLF; open-water swims log distance, pace and stroke rate. Physical buttons mean every function is one press away with wet hands.

CALLS, VOICE AND NOTIFICATIONS - Pair with an iPhone or Android phone through the Garmin Connect app to take calls on the wrist, read WhatsApp and email notifications, and reply to texts by voice assistant. Android users can also see notification images and reply with preset texts.
GARMIN PAY AND MUSIC - Tap to pay with Garmin Pay through participating Singapore banks, and load playlists from Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music or YouTube Music into the 32 GB of storage for phone-free runs. A subscription to the music service may be required.
OFFICE READY - The 51 mm case sits under a shirt cuff with a silicone band, and the QuickFit system lets you swap to a leather or metal band for the week and back to silicone for the weekend.

Yes. The tactix 8 uses Garmin's 26 mm QuickFit system, so any QuickFit 26 band in silicone, UltraFit, leather or metal clips on and off by hand. The included silicone band fits wrists from 127 to 210 mm; the case itself is 51 mm across, so try one on if you are between sizes.

“It’s Garmin’s best watch.”
