Some races run red-light-only sections to protect wildlife and other runners. Most headlamps meet that with a 2 to 10 lumen marker glow that barely lights your feet.
The UT27 MB delivers a high-output red beam of 150 lumens that throws 70 metres, across three brightness levels plus SOS and slow flashing. You keep a clear, night-vision-friendly view of the trail and hold your pace where a normal lamp would slow you to a walk.

How is the red light different from the red on other headlamps?
Most headlamps use red only as a low marker glow of a few lumens. The UT27 MB has a high-output red rated at 150 lumens to 70 metres, with three brightness levels plus SOS and slow flashing, so you can hold a running pace through red-light-only race sections and still preserve night vision.
Can I run it on normal AAA batteries?
Yes. It takes 3 AAA batteries, either alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH, as a backup for when you cannot recharge the HLB1500 pack. Runtimes are a little shorter on AAA than on the USB-C pack. Older 10400 Li-ion or LFP cells are not supported.
Can it be used as a lantern or worn off the headband?
Yes. The included diffusing stuff sack turns the headlamp into a soft camp lantern, and the four-way clip mounts it on a cap brim, a backpack strap or a waist pack instead of the headband.
