"What does SEG actually mean?" Segmented. The inside is split into compartments, like packing cubes. Each one opens from the outside, so you reach a segment without emptying the bag. The design is patented.
"Will it fit in the overhead bin?" It's 45 L, and 57 × 32 × 28 cm (22.5 × 12.5 × 11 in). That fits the overhead bin on most planes. Airline rules differ, so check your carrier.
"I'm rough on my gear. Will it survive me?" The shell is 420D recycled nylon that meets Bluesign® criteria. The external zippers are DuraGlide™ sealing zips, co-engineered by Matador and Zoom®. There's a YKK® zip inside. Grab handles sit on the top, the bottom, and the side.
"Can I carry it as a duffel?" Yes. Stow the shoulder straps, then clip on the padded duffel strap in the box. The hip belt and the sternum strap both come off too.
"Can someone open it in a crowd?" The main external pockets have anti-theft zipper security loops. Thread a travel lock through them and they stay shut.
"Where does the dirty laundry go?" The undercarriage compartment. It's built for the big, wet, or muddy things you don't want touching clean clothes.
"What if something breaks?" Matador repairs everything — in warranty or out. They fix it and send it back.
"How do I know this isn't marketing hype?" The segmented layout is patented. It solves one ordinary problem: finding your things. Everything else is plain hardware you can check. The zips, the handles, the lock loops.

The organised bag. A travel companion you can trust. I love this bag. I hear some complaints in some YouTube videos. This bag is the perfect companion for anyone whether you like the organised. My bag was full of stuff weighing over 13 kg. The side handles and the overall bag are very sturdy. It was very easy to bring it up in the aeroplane cabin. It holds so many that you won't believe it. My advice is to anyone who likes easy access and to avoid any suitcases. Just buy this travel companion and you never regret it.
I love how organized this bag keeps everything without needing a million packing cubes. It fits a ton, works as a backpack or duffel, and the separate bottom compartment is especially good for shoes and dirty clothes.
Honestly obsessed with the segmented organization on this one, it's basically packing cubes built right into the bag, so I always know where everything is. Switching between backpack and duffel mode is clutch depending on how far I'm walking with it, and the undercarriage compartment is perfect for tossing in dirty laundry or hiking boots. Feels tough and well built! Exactly what I want for longer trips where I'm living out of one bag for weeks at a time.

I have used the SEG 45 before and loved the built-in organization, so this updated hybrid version immediately made sense to me. I love that each section has its own zipper because it makes it easy to separate outfits, tech, toiletries, and all the little extras that usually get lost in a travel bag. And if I need one larger carry-all space, I like that I can use it that way too. It feels sturdy, practical, and perfect for longer trips or travel days when my husband and I are carrying clothes, laptops, and filming gear.
My first impression of the SEG45 Hybrid Travel Pack was just how well thought out it is. It feels super durable without being bulky, and I love how easy the segmented design makes it to stay organized without digging through one giant compartment. The backpack/duffel conversion is also such a nice touch because it makes the bag feel really versatile. We just took it out on a month long road trip through the PNW and it helped keep me super organized!

More than what I expected. So I purchased the SEG45 for a cross country train trip that was going to be a week's worth of travel. This has easily become my favorite travel pack!
The individual segments being labeled by liter ranges were extremely helpful with planning what I could put where. I felt extremely comfortable with walking around with it, especially given it was probably close to 50+ lbs on my back. Very high quality and great to use.
I will say there are some things that I wish were a tad different like the security loops being slightly smaller to make it a tad more difficult for someone to fiddle with the zippers if they were trying to get in. I know it's not supposed to keep anyone OUT of the bag but maybe smaller loops will make it a tad bit more secure. Also, I used both the segments and the 45L duffel section which made the bag huge so just keep this in mind if you're trying to pack for maximum storage. The hooks that help with bringing the segments in some where very helpful but maybe adding like a middle hook to help with the middle segments and some of the sagging that happens with those aren't being used.
Besides that this travel pack is very useful and organized. I'm even considering the SEG28 for flights on longer trips since the 45 isn't TSA compliant but for like a train it was perfect enough to fit under my legs while I was on the train.
I could go on but that's the review having used it for a major haul and my first impression.
LOVE this bag so much. Great design, quality materials. I have had this bag over a year now. I have used it both for work and a 10-day trip to Europe. It holds way more than my typical overhead carry-on hardshell. I really like the different compartments of the SEG45 as you can easily organize your things - shirts, pants, underwear, outerwear, etc. and you can keep clean away from dirty. Second - the zippers are awesome, truly waterproof, and have handy little holds on both sides to help with zippering/unzipping. Plus it's just easier to move through airports and (cobblestone) streets with your stuff on your back. 100% recommend this bag.
This bag has been with me all over the world. Bought the bag in 2022, and the bag has been with me to at least 25 countries, only had this bag for nine months traveling Central America.
It is very durable, has never had a tear, and this bag has been through it. Also never experiences any water coming into the bag. Keeps everything perfectly organized.
People always comment, is that all you are bringing with you, but it fits so much stuff, I have more in that bag than people with big suitcases :)
As I have the previous generation it does not have a strap over the chest and hips, but they have now added that. Will for sure buy again if it ever breaks!

Hands down the best carry-on pack/duffle I’ve had. Excellent cost to usability/durability ratio. Have taken a couple week/10 day trips so far with it and I like the fact that it’s soft, smartly compartmented and stuffs easily into an overhead bin. Zippers seem up to the task. It’s comfortable to wear as a pack for walks up to 1-2km. My only gripe (and it doesn’t detract appreciably from the overall excellence of the bag) is the duffle mode shoulder strap: it should be a bit wider and have a non-slip pad and the fabric loop attachments on the bag itself are adequate but should be more robust. Aside from travel, it’s an excellent mixed gear carrier, back up go-bag or beach/picnic bag as well.
Great for international carry on travel where 7 kg (15 lb) is limit and overhead bins are small. Got this for a 6 week international trip with many flights, including some on older planes with narrow entry overhead bins and strictly enforced 7 kg (15.4 lb) carry on weight limit. Wanted the biggest allowable carry on bag that was also squishable enough to fit into the narrow overhead bins, and the lowest weight so as not to eat into the 7 kg max. Plus comfortable enough to carry around airports, on the street, etc. I have the Cotopaxi Allpa 35L but it isn't squishable and has features I don't need that add weight such as a well padded laptop compartment. Also the Cotopaxi wouldn't fit in some small international overhead bins (Madagascar Airlines) with narrow entries and I had to unpack and rearrange in the plane aisle. I got this Matador bag and have been very happy with it. Is surprisingly comfortable to carry as a backpack, is squishable and lightweight. I mostly used it as a one compartment duffel, and only occasionally used the zippered pockets, except for the very top pocket which I used for things I needed to grab quickly. I never got challenged by any airline, even on MASwings, the Malaysian airline with turboprop planes that had narrow entry overhead bins.

Great features for an emergency kit bag. The partitions of the Sega45 make it a wonderful pack for emergency preparadness. First Aid, water, food, shelter, clothing and tools all fit very nicely and still keep the pack from weighing more than one should carry in an emergency. Love this bag. I purchased this bag at MEC in may of 2024 for an upcoming trip to Europe. I wasn’t looking for this bag in particular but once I saw it in the store I decided this is it. I love how it keeps everything organized and has the option to just use the entire bag as one compartment. I use it every time I travel now.
Most amazing bag for staying organized. This bag is a dream come true!! When I added road cases to my dualsport electric motorcycle, by Zero, I thought how am I going to keep my gear organized, without having a yard sale every time I want to pull out something out… I literally dreamed about having a bag that would easily keep me organized, yet easily stuff into the top case.

Bought the pack after looking at it for years, and it’s great! Took it on a quick roadtrip, and it was awesome to be able to separate out my clean & dirty clothes, plus my laptop and all the associated gear. The only things I wish it had were sturdier, more hand-friendly carry handles - the plain straps are a little annoying - and some sort of compression strap system.
Love this bag and the built-in structure. Not the thickest padding so don’t expect to use this for hiking or long backpacking adventures. I use it as a travel duffle and you can fit a weeks worth of clothes in 45L. I may pick up the 28L backpack that has similar modular design but more padding and organization as an EDC bag.
Versatile, practical, sexy. I initially got this bag to keep my workday organized as a duffel: gym, shower, and work stuff. But soon after buying it, I ended up using it for travel, and it was so practical! I could keep my chargers/wires, clothes, shoes, passport/wallet, laptop, laundry all separated. The backpack straps made it so much easier to carry around airports and inside airplanes. The zippers are sturdy and smooth. This bag can do it all, and it looks sexy too! I love this bag. This bag saved my back. I bought the SEG45 Travel Pack and a daypack for a month long trip which involved side trips travelling by train, bus, plane and unexpected walking due to train strikes. After having to unexpectedly walk for over 3km wearing this fully packed travel pack (and a little Matador day pack), I was more than happy I purchased it. (My 20-something backpacking days are well WELL over so this is saying something.) It's very lightweight, but sturdy; the straps are well padded, the balance v. good. All the compartments are a good idea, but I preferred to keep everything in the main compartment in separate pouches. The zipper 'locks' are clever and a good deterrent While the size was right for cabin baggage, due to weight I checked the bag in-- the way the straps fold away is genius. Nice to have the duffel option too. Great design. Very happy with the pack. Does all it says on the tin.
Simple and Efficient. I love duffel bags but always struggles finding things in one large pocket so when I friend introduced me to this product I was excited to try it out. I have dedicated pockets for specific items so I know exactly where to find it when I need it. I use the large pocket for dirty items. If you value simplicity and love organization, this is the bag for you.
Excellent bag. Pretty well made, excellent organization, the design is flawless, good for travelling solo or for short trips with the family when you don't want to carry many bags, you can sort the clothes on the segments. Very strong material and zippers are very good too. Very happy with the product.
Can't get more organized than this when traveling. The medium sized Nomatic packing cubes (with compression) fit beautifully into each of the segments of the Seg45 and it is like traveling with your own portable chest of drawers. You can compress the whole pack down and it fits as a carry-on bag, too. I don't use checked baggage anymore so this is particularly impressive for a large backpack. I don't really think it is as big as 45L, by the way, but when you use compression packing cubes, it probably holds beyond that amount and you can easily pack for 2 or 3 weeks this way. Quality all the way and an excellent deal from a great company. A+
