Watch: the bag two design teams built in 24 hours — then couldn't stop using.

The bag that was never supposed to exist.

Best For: The carry obsessive who wants the story as much as the bag — and there are only two in Singapore.

  • One of a single, retired run - the first-ever Matador® × Carryology® collaboration, sold for one week and never made again
  • Carry it three ways - backpack, sling, or duffel, swapped in seconds on magnetic FIDLOCK® buckles
  • Open it flat like a suitcase - clamshell zip with limiter panels so nothing tips onto the floor
  • A 16-inch laptop slides in - padded sleeve flat against your back
  • Details only insiders catch - camo lining, a hidden raven patch, red-tipped YKK® pulls
  • Reach your gear without looking - camo admin panel with pen, cable, and key slots
  • Two in Singapore - when they sell, that's it

*Designed by Sam Goodhue in a single all-nighter for Carryology's Maker's Mystery Box Challenge. The community asked Matador to make it real.

The Redeye 24 worn on the back, lit dramatically with the red FIDLOCK disc glowing

It began as a 24-hour dare. It was never meant to be sold.

Carryology runs a challenge: hand a designer a box of mystery parts, give them one day, and film what happens. In 2023 they flew to Matador's Boulder workshop and handed lead designer Sam Goodhue a box of FIDLOCK® magnets.

He didn't sleep - one all-nighter, three hours of rest, one finished pack. On camera.

The prototype hit different - it carried better than anything else the series had made. People watched the build and wanted one.

So Matador made it real - then asked the community what to change. Dozens of suggestions shaped the bag you're looking at.

The name is the build - "Redeye," for the sleepless night, marked by a raven patch with a single red eye.

Sold for one week. Then never again.

The Redeye wasn't stocked on a shelf. It opened for pre-order on 5 November 2025 — a single week-long window, worldwide — and closed on the 12th. Every bag was made to order. After that, the run was done.

We committed on day one - 5 November 2025, the morning it opened.

It landed seven months later - built, shipped, and finally in Singapore in mid-2026.

This is the whole supply - two units. There is no reorder button, here or anywhere.

A shoulder strap snapping onto the bag's magnetic FIDLOCK disc

Three ways to carry. No tools, no fuss.

The straps clip on and off with FIDLOCK® magnetic buckles. They sit flush until you need them, then snap into place on their own.

Switch modes in seconds - pull one strap for sling, both for duffel, leave them on for backpack.

It feels a bit like magic - line the strap up near the disc and it pulls itself home.

Nothing rattles or dangles - when a strap is off, the mount sits flat and clean against the fabric.

The Redeye 24 carried by its strap in duffel mode, side profile

One bag for the whole day.

Morning - both straps on, worn like a normal backpack for the commute.

Midday - one strap off, slung across your back so you can swing it round fast.

Evening - straps off, carried by the handle like a gym duffel.

At 24 litres it's the sweet spot: room for a laptop, a layer, and lunch, small enough to stay out of the way.

The open admin panel with camo lining, pen and cable slots, and a phone going into a pocket

Open it flat. See everything.

The clamshell unzips like a suitcase, so you're never digging through a top-loader.

Nothing spills out - limiter panels on both sides hold your gear in when it's laid open.

Two spaces, not one jumble - a zippered divider splits the main compartment in half.

Small stuff stays sorted - the admin panel has slots for pens, cables, and keys, lined in custom camo.

A 16-inch MacBook sliding into the Redeye 24's padded laptop sleeve

Your laptop has a home.

A padded sleeve sits against the back panel and holds a laptop up to 16 in (40.6 cm).

It was a community request - the original 24-hour prototype didn't have one. Buyers asked, Matador added it.

It rides flat against your spine - the heaviest thing you carry sits closest to your back, where it belongs.

The stuff you notice on day 100.

Soft from the first day - the 420D Oxford nylon is washed at the factory, so it feels broken-in, not stiff like cardboard.

Shrugs off a shower - a PU coating on the back of the fabric keeps light rain out.

Zippers that don't slip - YKK® zips with silicone-dipped pulls, red-tipped on the main compartment.

Holds its shape - an internal aluminium and HDPE frame keeps the bag from sagging when it's light.

The camo interior lining with the REDEYE raven patch and Matador x Carryology label

The details that make it a collector's piece.

Open the bag and you'll find a custom camo lining the community asked for — black, with just a dash of red.

The raven patch - a nod to Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" and the sleepless build, with a single red eye.

The co-brand, sewn in - a Matador® × Carryology® label marks the first official team-up for both brands.

You won't see another on the train - the kind of bag people who know, notice.

Worn in, not shown off.

All black, with a flash of red in the pulls and the lining. It reads clean and quiet, not technical.

No hiking-pack look - no dangling straps, no loud logos, no mesh bulk.

At home anywhere - the office, the cafe, the gate at the airport.

REAL QUESTIONS FROM REAL BUYERS

"Can I still get one if I miss these?"
No. The Redeye sold in a single week-long pre-order in November 2025 and was never made again. These two are the supply in Singapore.

"24 litres — is that enough for a full day out?"
Yes. Laptop, charger, lunch, a layer, and a water bottle, with room to spare. The divider keeps it all sorted.

"Will it actually fit my 16-inch laptop?"
It fits a laptop up to 16 in (40.6 cm) in the padded sleeve against the back panel.

"Three carry modes sounds like a gimmick. Does it work?"
The straps clip on and off with FIDLOCK® magnetic buckles. You swap modes in seconds, no tools, no re-threading.

"Is it waterproof?"
The fabric has a PU coating that sheds light rain. It's water-resistant for daily use, not built for full submersion.

"What if something breaks?"
Matador repairs everything — in warranty or out. They fix it and send it back.
