The head pivots through more than 120°, so clipped to a cap the beam drops onto your work, and stood on a bench it throws light up a wall or into an engine bay. You aim the light instead of twisting your whole hand or the whole torch.
Clip it to a pocket or a bag strap and it lights the space in front of you while both hands stay on the task, which is what makes it a work light rather than just a torch.

White output runs at three levels: 85 lumens to light a room or a roadside, 30 lumens for close work, and a 2-lumen low that reads a map or finds a lock for up to 10 hours on a charge.
A separate red light keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark, so it is at home reading star charts, moving around a campsite, or signalling without lighting yourself up. A beacon mode flashes to mark your position.
An oversized clip that holds where you put it.
The wide steel clip grips a cap brim, a shirt pocket, a pack strap or a sun visor, turning the Thumb into a hands-free lamp for the angle you are working at. Clipped to a pocket it doubles as an L-shaped torch, lighting up to 26 metres ahead.
When the job is done it clips back onto your keys, so the light you needed is the light you already had on you.

The Li-ion battery is built in and tops up through the USB-C port in around three hours, so there are no cells to buy, carry or swap. A full charge covers a long stretch of everyday use between top-ups.

Does it come with a charging cable?
No, a USB-C cable is not included, since most people already have several. Any standard USB-C cable and USB port will charge it in around three hours.
Can I replace the battery?
The Li-ion battery is built in and recharges over USB, so there is nothing to replace or swap. You charge it the way you charge a phone.
How do I switch between white and red light?
The Thumb has two buttons. One controls the white light and cycles its brightness levels, and the other handles the red light and beacon, so you reach either colour directly without scrolling through modes.
